Child Development or Early Childhood Education 1 (ECE) gives students an introduction of child psychology and their development. This is composed of understanding theories in psychology and development, families and parenting, lifecycle stages, and caring for children. Students will also have the opportunity to experience the "Empathy Belly" and the baby simulations ("Real Care baby"). Please see simulations for more information. Students will have limited interaction with children during this first year. However, students will be participating in observations to assess individual child development.
Child Development 2 is the second year of child development. The class is designed to develop knowledge and practical experience. High school students interact with each other, infants, toddlers, and preschool age children. Students spend their time teaching in the early learning center and plan age-appropriate activities and learning about best educational practices for young children. Child Development 3 is a teacher leader learning opportunity while working in the early learning center. Various projects are required. Google Classroom is HERE. All assignments, presentations, and projects will be on Google Classroom. "No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world." - Robin Williams |
